Wish-list: Top 3 Collections (+ An Update)

Ok... So I know I've been a horrible little blogger, I thought this blog would complement my Youtube channel (MichLxo), but I haven't even had time for that lately! Although it's summer time, I'm still taking courses online which keeps me busy, busy, busy. Besides that it's been a summer full of weddings, so far my count is at 4 (I think), and I had to miss a few! Crazy. I know! So needless to say my little online crafty community has been neglected (forgive me!!).

I've hardly crafted, so that has left me with nothing to share! I hope that changes soon, but until then, or as a way of staying in touch, I hope to do more blog posts! So to start it all off, here are 3 collections I'm loving right now (and on my poor student wish list haha!):

1. Ocean Melody by Adrienne Looman from Webster's Pages (Click here to see full collection)

This collection is full of my favorite things smashed together. It has a beautiful colour palette with pink, blue, mint green, coral, and pops of navy. There's cutesy images mixed with beautiful photos, and even some bokeh! I love that they've included a lot of cut apart sheets with 3x4 and 4x6 images, perfect for those of us who love pocket style scrapbooking (and those who don't too!).

2. Market Street- Ashbury Heights by My Minds Eye (Click here to see full collection)

This collection isn't the newest release from MME but it's still on the top of my wish list. I just want to frame all the paper it's so pretty! Floral images, pops of gold, and beautiful fonts (I just love a good font, don't you?) make this collection pretty and versatile. I think I really fell in love with it because it reminds me of the prints from Rifle Paper Co. and my awesome phone case (see picture below)!

Isn't it pretty (the gold parts are so shiny.. ouuu ahhh) (Click here to go to their site- I purchased mine at Chapters bookstore here in Canada!)

3. Notes and Things by Crate Paper (Click here to see full collection)

I love the Maggie Holmes for Crate Paper collections that have been released thus far, and although this isn't one of them, it sure does remind me of something she would create! Pretty pastels, touches of kraft, florals (are we sensing a trend here), and some pretty cool geometric patterns with a pop of brightness! The only thing I'm not going crazy for is the butterfly thing... I'm probably the only one that's not, since they pop up in every. freakin'. collection. but hey, I can deal!

If you made it to the end of this post, thanks for stickin' around! What are your favourite types of crafty blog posts to read? Leave some ideas for future blog posts (or even videos) in the comments!

Thanks for stopping by :)

A Spooktacular Halloween Project!

This weekend I created a fun and easy Halloween decor project, and also participated in a challenge for Serena Bee's YouTube channel.

I found some inspiration while searching on Pinterest/Google (click here), and got to work! If you would like to create something like this, all you need is some Halloween paper (I used the Pebbles Thirty one paper pack), mini wood coffins (found at my local dollar store), and whatever embellishments you'd like!

Check out Serena's channel (see link above), she's so creative & recently put together the cutest Halloween tree too!

Thanks for reading! xoxo

So Thankful for You!

With Thanksgiving coming up this weekend in Canada, I decided to make a couple cards to send home to family! Unfortunately this year I won't be home for a yummy turkey dinner, but I wanted my family to know I was thinking of them none the less.

I purchased the new (to me) Lawn Fawn stamp, 'So Thankful', a couple weekends ago at a scrapbooking crop and was so excited to put it to use! Along with some Doodlebug 'Happy Harvest' paper, I think these cards turned out pretty darn cute, if I do say so myself.

On this first card I coloured in the image with pencil crayons. I definitely prefer it to the markers I used in the second one.

I will be entering the first card in the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday blog challenge (Click here to check it out) & the Lawnscaping Challenge #67 (Click here to check it out)!!

Until next time friends!

P.S. If you're in Canada (and even if you're not) Happy Thanksgiving! I'm definitely thankful for all my blog & Youtube supporters! :)

A Monochromatic Challenge!

As you can tell by the lack of posts on this blog (I promise I'll get better), I've been away from crafting for way to long!  I'm finally moved and settled in my new town, and I'm ready to jump back into things. That includes more YouTube videos and blog posts!

To get my crafty 'mojo' back in action I decided to participate in a blog challenge! I've been wanting to try these for awhile now, and I definitely hope to do more in the future. It's fun to play along and get inspiration from the other talented people who participate!

So this week I decided to enter the Lawnscaping Challenge #66 (a Lawn Fawn challenge blog) which had a monochromatic theme!

Click here to go to the blog!

Of course the colour I went with was pink (my favorite)! It turned out to be a great card for Valentine's Day, or just for that person who melts your heart <3

I used the various pink inks in my collection, and the 'here's the scoop' stamp set from Lawn Fawn. I accented one ice cream cone and some hearts with glossy accents to give it some dimension!

Let me know what you think in the comments!

Are there challenge blogs you participate in? Leave them down below so I can check it out!

Until next time,

A Simple Father's Day Card

Hi crafty friends!

I just wanted to make a quick post about the simple Father's Day card I made. You can watch my video  to see all the products I used, most of which are inexpensive items from Michaels! I also tried out my new Lawn Fawn interlocking backdrops stamp. I found it for 50% off at Two Peas in a Bucket and I think it may still be on sale (click here to see)!

30 Days of Lists

At the end of April I stumbled upon an awesome post on Two Peas (click here to see that post) that showed a 30 days of lists project by one of their members.  She did a fantastic job & inspired me to make my own book for the month of May!  I chose papers from my own stash (15 of all different sizes & colours) and made my own mini book. I bounded the book together using a paper piercer and embroidery thread & got to work!

Now, let me make it clear that I did NOT work on this book everyday! I had a notebook where I kept my lists and I worked on a bunch of layouts all at once. This made the book much easier to keep up with for the whole month (I wish I had time to scrap every day but it just doesn't happen).

I loved working on this project & I'm very happy with my end result! It will be a fun thing to look back on and read in the years to come. It would be interesting to make another book in a years time or even 5 years, and see how my thoughts change!

If you want a more in depth look at my finished project take a look at my videos where I show you each page!

I hope you like my finished book, & if you made a 30 days of lists project definitely leave a link in the comments so I can check it out! If you have any questions leave a comment :)

Until my next crafty post,

Welcome to My Blog!

Hi friends & WELCOME to my new blog!!!!!

I decided to make this blog to go with my crafty You Tube channel MichLxo (you can click to go to my channel).  I realize some of you crafters prefer reading blogs over watching videos (& I like reading blogs as well). I thought this would be a good space to post any pictures to supplement my videos or to post small things that I wouldn't normally make a whole video for!

For those of you who might have stumbled upon this video and don't know me, I'm a 25 (soon to be 26) year old teacher (OK, substitute teacher for now) who loves to try anything crafty. I've loved showing my creativity ever since I was a little girl, always drawing or making something! I tried scrapbooking during my high school years but it never stuck. This year my passion for scrapbooking, card making, & anything craft related has been sparked. I suppose you could say I found a little extra time on my hands on days I wasn't teaching, haha! I decided to start a You Tube channel to share my passion & I've been loving every minute of it!

I'm a new blogger, but I love to learn & teach myself new things (this being one of them)! So bare with me as I learn the ropes! I love feedback & suggestions, please leave comments and tell me what you think!

Thanks for reading!
